LG becomes official partner of Cannes Film Festival

Global and regional digital leader LG Electronics has announced that it will be an official sponsor of the 60th Cannes Film Festival, scheduled to take place from May 16-27, 2007, in Cannes, France.

LG will be allowing all attendees to constantly feel at the centre of the action, by featuring an impressive line-up of LG Full HD TV's during the event. Televisions in sizes from 26 to 47 inches will be located at different areas of the palais des festivals, displaying picture-perfect footage of nominated movies and event proceedings for all to enjoy.

Mr. K. W. Kim, President of LG Electronics - Middle East and Africa, pointed out: 'We are delighted to be a partner of the Cannes Film Festival which celebrates the best that the film industry has to offer.

'Through our range of TV products LG is committed to enhancing the visual experience by displaying the great work of acclaimed actors, directors and filmmakers in its best light. We are confident that LG will add further sparkle to this important international media event,' he added.

The LG Full HD TV range allows viewers to truly feel the sensation through the screen, whether they are watching their favourite TV shows or the latest Cannes nominated blockbuster. To accompany the first class technology and picture quality, the range is accented with a wave-inspired design that gives it a simple yet elegant look.

Kim added that the Cannes sponsorship will contribute to LG's international stature as a leading digital player, coming close on the heels of its sponsorship of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. The 45-day tournament, being held from March 13 to April 28, is one of the widely watched sporting events and hosts more than 16 countries from around the world.

Today, the Cannes Film Festival is regarded as one of the largest international media events with over 200,000 people attending its activities. During the 12-day festival, the city is transformed from a quiet seaside resort to a bustling metropolis as international film celebrities, movie buffs and tourists converge to take part in the prestigious festival or rub shoulders with each other.

Each year, hundreds of films from more than 100 countries are screened during the event, with activities centred on the international film industry showcased on the sidelines.
